How is counselling structured?
After your assessment, if you and your counsellor agree to proceed, you’ll be placed on our waiting list. Once a space is available, you’ll begin with a block of six sessions, followed by a review to decide whether to continue or conclude.
Reviews typically happen every six sessions to ensure the work remains focused and helpful for you.
What platforms and therapy types do you use?
Sessions are held securely via encrypted video platforms such as Zoom or VSee.
We offer a range of therapeutic approaches, tailored to each client’s needs and the expertise of their counsellor/psychotherapist. These include:
• Talking Therapies
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
• Person-Centred Counselling

Do you offer a concessionary rate?
Yes. We offer a concessionary rate of £45 per session for clients on low income, qualifying benefits, or experiencing financial hardship.
Concessionary places are limited, and availability varies throughout the year. Please check the online counselling page (https://www.theechosociety.org.uk/online-counselling-service)for current availability:
Does counselling have to be weekly?
Not at all. While many clients find weekly sessions helpful, we understand that this isn’t always manageable.
After your initial assessment session, you and your counsellor can agree on a pace that works for you — whether that’s weekly, fortnightly, or something more flexible depending on your needs and capacity.
Are you currently accepting new clients?
We offer counselling on a rolling basis throughout the year. Availability varies depending on practitioner capacity and client need.
You can check the online counselling page (https://www.theechosociety.org.uk/online-counselling-service)for current availability.
How do I let you know I’m interested in counselling?
If you’re interested in counselling, please visit our online counselling service(https://www.theechosociety.org.uk/online-counselling-service) page for current information:
You can contact us about counselling by using the contact form (https://www.theechosociety.org.uk/#contact)on our website.
Do you offer couples counselling or family therapy?
We offer individual counselling only. We focus on individual support as this is often the safest and most effective approach when navigating relational harm.
If you’re looking for couples or family support, we recommend reaching out to a specialist service that can assess whether that approach is right for your situation.
Do you offer one-off or ad hoc sessions?
Our model is based on continuity and relationship, so we don’t offer one‑off sessions.
After your initial assessment session,(https://www.theechosociety.org.uk/initial-assessment-session) you and your counsellor can agree on a session frequency that feels manageable — such as weekly or fortnightly.
Can I refer someone else to your service?
Yes — if someone you care about might benefit from support, you’re very welcome to share our website or contact details with them.
However, we only work with clients who self-refer, so they’ll need to reach out to us directly to begin the process.
Can I return to counselling in the future if I’ve worked with you before?
Yes — many clients return to counselling at different points in their journey.
If you’ve worked with us before and would like to reconnect, you’re welcome to get in touch.(https://www.theechosociety.org.uk/#contact) We’ll do our best to offer you continuity with your previous counsellor, or we’ll help you find the right support within our team.
